I get new books in the mail nearly every day from publishers. Every so often, the cover of one of these new books is so beautiful that it immediately stops me from everything else I’m doing because I must determine if the story beneath that cover is as exquisite as the art on the front. And when the inside matches the outside?

Let’s just say I fall in love.

This is exactly what happened when I first received MAYBE, the mesmerizing new book written by Kobi Yamada (who also authored the WHAT DO YOU DO WITH trilogy we all love so much!) and illustrated by Gabriella Barouch.

My friends and followers frequently ask me about keepsake books: do you have a good book that my children’s teachers can sign every year at the end of school? Is there a beautiful book for a birthday? Is there a special book I can give someone for graduation?

Well, friends, MAYBE is my new go-to. MAYBE is THAT book.

MAYBE is a story about the glorious possibilities that lie in each and every one of us. For any child ever wondering why she was put on this earth, MAYBE is a story that focuses on these questions. It recognizes our uniqueness and touches on all of the exhilarating possibilities that exist for us if we reach out and harness our own potential.

Each of us has something unique to offer the world. We all have unlimited potential and an abundance of gifts within us that, if taken advantage of, can offer something miraculous to others. Whether we are builders, dreamers, creators, inventors, entertainers or humans meant to flood the world with goodness, we can change the world if we do all things with love.

We might fall.

We might even fail.

But we all have the capacity to get back up. Why? Because we are needed, and because the universe is waiting with bated breath for our magic. This is MAYBE.

Guys, MAYBE astounded me.

From its perfect message to its luminous (and literally breathtaking) illustrations, to the warmth and tenderness that spills from each stunning page, I read this story in total awe.

I love that feeling of my breath catching in my throat when I discover a new, wondrous story. I love when I discover a book that is not only magical, but so very meaningful too, one we can turn to again and again, at any age, and find new meaning in its pages with every read through. MAYBE is hands down one of my favorite books of the year. It is a book to pore over, to hug tightly, and to treasure for years to come. We hope you love it as much as we do. Two trunks up – the biggest trunks you can imagine!
