Great stories are the best learning tools
Stories help children navigate emotions and experiences. They provide safe spaces through which kids can grapple with difficult topics. And let’s not forget that they help us teach empathy, inclusiveness, and kindness.
Sometimes, we may need a bit of help figuring out how to maximize a story’s impact.
Welcome to PARADE! Family Book Club.
Happily Ever Elephants is proud to announce PARADE! Family Book Club!, a one-of-a-kind, downloadable reading and activity guide. Developed from my unique perspective and expertise as a book blogger, elementary school librarian and mom, this new book club pairs magical and meaningful stories with thoughtful discussion and engaging activities.
PARADE! Family Book Club is not about adding something else to your already full plate — it’s about enhancing the way you read with your children to make it more fun and enriching.
Let Happily Ever Elephants help you bring your cherished storytime to the next chapter.
Through reading tips, discussion prompts and creative projects, PARADE! will help you discover how to pull out important themes from each story so you can reinforce them long after you turn the last page.
Recommended Ages: Pre-Kindergarten through Third Grade

Volume I of PARADE! Family Book Club is a 32-page printable, eight-week guide. Each week, the club features one picture book and corresponding activities focusing on social and emotional skills. You may already have some of the books in your home; if not, they may be borrowed from your local library or purchased if needed. Volume I features eight themes: emotional intelligence, confidence, growth mindset, responsible decision-making, friendship, perspective, kindness, and respecting diversity.
I suggest you begin PARADE! each Monday with storytime followed by role play on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday are fun and creative art projects. Friday includes an “action” activity that will help your family continue to focus on the theme of the week as the days and months proceed.
Keep in mind that PARADE! is a self-paced, flexible program that can be adapted to fit your family’s needs and lifestyle. We encourage you to make it your own and do what works best for you and your kids!
