Books About Strong Girls, Chicks Rule by Sudipta Bardham-Quallen and illustrated by Renee Kurilla

I love any book that empowers girls to be all that they can be. And when those books are done in creative, fun and unique ways, all the better. Don’t get me wrong – I love picture book biographies and anthologies as much as the rest of you. But I also love books about strong girls that are just pure fun, and this one takes the cake! Chicks Rule!, by Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen and illustrated by Renee Kurilla is energetic, creative, and powerful, and we simply adore it!

Books About Strong Girls — er, Chicks — ROCK!

In Chick’s Rule!, Nerdy Chick has been dying to get to the Rocket Club meeting. But when she arrives and steps up to the door, she finds quite an unsettling sign: “NO CHICKS ALLOWED!!” First she’s confused, then upset, then Nerdy Chick is downright angry.

When she sets out to change the rules, she meets a lot of like minded, determined gals along the way, gals like Soccer Chick and Yoga Chick and Hippie Chick and Writer Chick. Together they rally… and when they hear “NO CHICKS ALLOWED” yet again, they do what strong girls do best — they carve their own path and reach the stars together.

CHICKS RULE! is a Fab Book About Strong Girls that Celebrates GIRL POWER!

Oh, how we love Chicks Rule! and the way it celebrates girl power! Strong girls (or chicks!) unite in this fabulous ode to ingenuity, resourcefulness, community and inclusiveness. Together, when they collaborate and cooperate with one another, they learn that chicks can truly conquer anything, no matter who tries to hold them back. Chick’s Rule! is a keeper for strong girls, and its joyful, appealing illustrations of chicks — depicted in a rainbow of colors and an array of outfits —shows that each of us has a unique talent that is vital to creating greatness. This is one of those books I would gift for any child’s birthday party, one that is empowering, enlightening, and oodles of fun. Chicks Rule!, folks. They really, really do!
