Lady Pancake & Sir French Toast, by Josh Funk

My boys are obsessed with pancakes. Like, legitimately, they can't wake up and start their day without them or else all hell will ensue obsessed. This might be why we love Josh Funk's Lady Pancake & Sir French Toast so much. That, or the fact that it's ridiculously silly and so much fun to read, and we can't get through it without giggling.

In this story, Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast are the best of friends, until that fateful day they discover there is only one drop of syrup left in the fridge. Behind the closed doors of the refrigerator, all of the food comes to life, and the competition to get to that last sticky drop of sweetness is not just fierce, but incredibly fun as well.

Talk about a rollicking rhyming romp! This may just be the most entertaining food fight ever, and if your little ones are anything like mine, they will totally delight in the escapades that ensue once the refrigerator doors close and the food inside takes over. The cadence and rhythm are pitch perfect, making it a fabulous read aloud. The rhyming couplets never falter, and the illustrations by Brendan Kearney are so lively, they practically pull you into their world. And last but not least- you can't beat a book that celebrates the beauty of sharing butter. If you have little foodies in your life, this is one not to be missed!
